Beaches in Funchal:

Ponta Gorda
Located by the Lido promenade, this pool complex offers direct sea access, sand areas for sport activities, two pools, a children’s pool with play area. Other facilities include changing rooms, snack bars, restaurants  and sun beds. Entrance fee applies.

Praia do Gorgulho

A small pebble beach located next to the Lido Promenade. If you need a quick and refreshing dip this is the perfect option.   At this beach you will find toilets, free showers and a couple of bars.  Entrance is free.

Doca do Cavacas
This beach has a natural volcanic swimming pool, which offers direct access to the sea, where you can enjoy spectacular views to Cabo Girão.  This small beach is located just between Lido and Formosa beach, and it is accessible by a connecting tunnel from Praia Formosa. Facilities in Doca do Cavacas beach include showers, changing rooms, restaurants and bars. Entrance fee applies.

Praia Formosa
The beach Praia Formosa is the largest public beach in Madeira, located in the West side of Funchal.  During the summer, the beach attracts many locals and tourists as the beach offers many sports and entertainment activities.  At the Praia Formosa you can find a medical center, changing rooms, bars, restaurants and a car park.  This beach is connected by the Lido promenade and the promenade that connects to Câmara de Lobos.
